Interesting Facts About Valentine's Day
Saint Valentine, a 3rd-century clergyman and healer, is best known as the patron saint of epilepsy. He was martyred on February 14th, around 270 AD, after being stoned and beheaded. Today, his flower-adorned skull is on display in Rome, serving as a poignant reminder of his legacy.
On the day of his death, he penned a heartfelt letter to a friend he had healed, signing it, "From your Valentine."
Swans are renowned for their lifelong bonds with their mates, symbolizing loyalty and grace. Originally introduced to Europe from Australia in the 1800s, these elegant birds captivate with their devotion. While the female swan diligently incubates her eggs to keep them warm, the male swan remains ever watchful, guarding the nest with unwavering vigilance. In moments of triumph, such as fending off predators, the male even performs a celebratory victory dance—a remarkable display of his protective instincts.
However, swans are not immune to separation. If a nest is destroyed or the female is unable to produce cygnets, it is not uncommon for the pair to part ways.
